Colourful local market at Lucon (4 miles) on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, street cafes, boutiques - Old town and port of La Rochelle (37 miles) - fabulous aquarium. - History theme park of Le Puy du Fou (45 miles) - medieval village, roman amphitheatre, great for children. - Gardens of Court d'Aron (11 miles) - thousands of exotic plants, lotus flower lakes - Chateau de la Guignardiere (20 miles) - children's treasure trail, picnic spots - Vineyards at Mareuil sur Lay (5 miles). 18 hole golf at Nesmy (16 miles) plus 3 other courses in the area - Fishing and boat hire on the river Lay (3 miles). Sea fishing trips can be arranged. Punts or canoes on the canals of Green Venise (from 15 miles).
