Ste Gemme le Plaine (3 miles), Ste Hermine (4 miles), Lucon (7 miles).
Beaches:
20 miles takes you to La Faute sur Mer, superb sandy beaches, stretching along 12 miles of coastline with dunes & pine forests, including La Tranche sur Mer (watersports, windsurfing, jet-skis, sailing), round to the port of Jard sur Mer (Clemenceau museum, street market, port).
Holiday activities and places to visit:
Colourful local market at Ste Hermine (4 miles) on Friday morning. Old town and port of La Rochelle (38 miles) - lots to visit, good shopping, fabulous aquarium. History theme park of Le Puy du Fou (40 miles) - medieval village, roman amphitheatre, great for children. Gardens of Court d'Aron (16 miles) - exotic plants, lotus flower lakes. Chateau de la Guignardiere (25 miles) - children's treasure trail, picnic spots. Vineyards at Mareuil sur Lay (12 miles). 18 hole golf at Nesmy (24 miles). Fishing at river Lay (8 miles). Sea fishing boat trips can be arranged by the owners.
