La Faute sur Mer (33 miles) and lots more thereon towards Les Sables d'Olonne.
Aytre / La Rochelle (24 miles) and on to Angoulins, Chatelaillon...

Golf at Marsilly (24 miles). Fishing at 3km (permits available locally). Fontenay-le-Comte (11 miles) colourful market (saturday morning), historic town centre, chateau 'Terre Neuve'. La Faute sur Mer (huge market on Sundays in July and August). Town and port of La Rochelle (24 miles) - street cafes, night life, boutiques, fabulous aquarium and numerous museums. Island of Re - via bridge from La Rochelle or by ferry from the port. Fouras peninsular - pretty town, sandy coves and the famous fishing huts on stilts... Green Venice - the well-known Vendee marshlands, to explore by punt or canoe, at numerous points from 3 miles onwards, eg. Maillezais.
