This character cottage offers you an attractive rural riverside setting. Situated near the village of Vix on the edge of the "Green Venice" area of the Vendee. Vix is well known for its wine and you can taste and buy at many of the local wine producers. The nearby village (3 miles along quiet lanes) offers basic amenities, bakery, grocery shop, bars and the nearest town and supermarket is at Marans (9 miles) or Fontenay-la Comte (11 miles). The surrounding area has numerous canals and the quiet lanes are ideal for walking and cycling. There is a nature reserve at 500m offering great opportunities for bird-watching. Cycle hire is available at Marans or Arcais (delivery possible). The property has a large enclosed garden with plenty of space for children's games and the private heated pool is equipped with a roller-blind safety cover making it fine for young children. Note that whilst the property is on the riverbank with a superb view of the river, the outside space is completely fenced from the river.
The Vendee coast is easy to get to (34 miles to La Faute sur Mer) as is the delightful town of La Rochelle (24 miles), with it's historic port, superb shopping, excellent restaurants and numerous holiday attractions. The beaches south of La Rochelle are also within easy reach.
