Easy and safe security deposits for holiday rentals

Security Deposits by SWIKLY

Many of the holiday rental properties on our website now use the secure on-line Security Deposit system SWIKLY. This will be indicated by the SWIKLY logo in the property details and the amount will be shown in the Prices section.

Swikly allows you to make your Security Deposit easily via debit or credit card without having to pay in advance. This also avoids having to send a cheque or bank transfer or giving a large cash sum on arrival.

We are hoping that in due course we will have all properties in this system, but during the transition period, some may use either a non-banked cheque, a cash sum on arrival, or (more rarely) a bank transfer just before arrival. When this is the case, the method will be indicated in the Prices section for the property. Note that this remains an advantage compared with the large booking platforms who bank your Security Deposit as part of the reservation process, often months before...

No payment up-front.

A Swikly deposit is not a payment and you will not be debited for the amount requested, but you authorise a payment up to the deposit amount if a problem occurs.

No fees.

No fees are charged to your card by Swikly for registering the deposit . A test payment of 1€ is taken to verify your card. This is paid back to you.

Simple and quick.

In most cases, you will receive the Security Deposit request by email from the property owner before your holiday. It only takes minutes to do and you no longer need to worry about it.
In some cases, the owner may do the Security Deposit by Swikly when you arrive, by sending you the request email then. You can easily complete the process on your smartphone (assuming that you have access to your email account).

Other advantages of Swikly.

During your holiday, if you need to pay for a small breakage, or if you have some additional services to pay for, you can ask the owner to simply charge this amount to the deposit or to any other card you wish. (Deposit deductions will have a 5% + VAT service charge added, normal card payments will have a 3% + VAT service charge added.)

How Swikly works :

A few weeks before your holiday you will receive a Security Deposit request for the amount that is stipulated on your Booking Form / Rental Contact.
This will be either a SWIKLY email indicating the name of the rented property, the dates, and the deposit amount, OR an email from the property owner with the same details. Both will contain a link to the SWIKLY secure on-line system.
You just need to click the link to enter the SWIKLY website, follow the instructions and enter your card details. Please do this promptly.
The deposit will be acknowledged and the property owner is notified that it has been done. Nothing to bring with you and no hassles on arrival. After your stay, the deposit will simply be cancelled by the property owner.
In the unlikely event that there is an incident requiring a deduction from the deposit, you will be notified within 7 days of leaving the property, along with the reasons for the deduction.
Should you need to query a deduction, the SWIKLY team will have have all the details to be able to discuss it with you (and in your own language). Swikly will be the intermediary and will verify the terms of the security deposit.

Please note :
The Security Deposit is a mandatory formality for a holiday rental and is an integral part of the rental contract.

Safety of your details :
As when using any on-line system, you should check that the link that you receive indeed goes to the SWIKLY domain https://www.swikly.com and that the padlock logo in your browser is closed.
